Another week brings another challenge from the 52 Week Sewing Challenge. This week we were tasked with sewing something with a collar. Lucky for me Goober Pea Designs recently released the Danica Dress (formerly the girls' Drama Dress by George + Ginger).  This simple and sweet dress has a lot to offer. Week 18, where has the time gone! This week’s challenge is to make a purse or wallet. I already have an amazing purse and wallet made by Ruth of Toby Bean custom bags.  I didn’t really have a need for another. What I did need was a big bag. My husband and I got a wild hair to take an overnight trip on the motorcycle and we had yet to outfit the bike with saddle bags. Color-blocking is a  fun way to make fabric stretch and add some fun elements to your sew. Many designers use it to update and change the look of existing patterns. I find color-blocking an awesome way to use up small cuts of fabric and scraps.  Here at Aurora Designs we have in-house panels and color-blocking is an excellent tool to have in your pocket when working with these panels.
